'Fried brain' and exposed technique: the curious collapse of Virat Kohli
Final battle between Virat Kohli and James Anderson? Zaheer Khan certainly thinks so
Whenever an India vs England contest is talked about the match-up between Virat Kohli and James Anderson takes the front seat. Over the years, the two have had quite a few enthralling personal battles on the 22-yard strip. As India take on England in the rescheduled 5th Test at Edgbaston, Zaheer Khan feels the Kohli vs Anderson battle will be witnessed for the last time.
At the age of 39, James Anderson is definitely in the twilight of his career. The veteran pacer has had quite a few injury and fitness concerns over the last few years. Though his end product on the field has still been quite useful for England, the expectation of him continuing to do so as he touches the age of 40 could be deemed overly optimistic.
“The more you watch this battle, the more you enjoy it. But yes, I feel we might be seeing this battle for the last time. Anderson is not playing many matches these days and he seems quite close to retirement. There might be a big gap after this when it comes to the next India-England Test series,” Zaheer said in a discussion on Cricbuzz.
Speaking of what would most likely be the final battle between the two cricketing stalwarts, Zaheer said that he expects Kohli to be troubled.
“It should be exciting without a doubt. During the previous series, we witnessed Anderson moving the ball rather impressively. He will pose problems for the batters for sure. Virat Kohli might also be troubled a bit. After all, it is never easy against Anderson and it will be a good challenge for Kohli,” Zaheer opined.
